CONTACTING MEMBERS OF CONGRESS
To send an email to members of Congress, it is best to connect to their website, and, fill out their email form. It appears that most (but not all!) members of Congress are no longer publishing direct email addresses and thus are pushing constituents to use the email link on their website.
Further, due to long delays from snailmail inspection procedures begun after the anthrax contamination of congressional mail, it is best NOT to send hardcopy mail via US Postal Service to congressional Washington offices. Send such mail to the member of Congress’ regional office. Limit contact with the member of Congress’ Washington office to email, phone, and, short messages via fax.
If you are contacting a member of Congress regarding a Corps Navigation Project, please snail-mail a hardcopy of your submission to UMRA, and, also email it to Strimbeck (secretary@uppermon.org) via copy and paste into your email, if you can do this. Please indicate if the communication is intended to be semi-confidential.
