The Waterways Journal

To the Editor

Your November 17, 2003 issue published the excellent letter concerning waterways funding from David Barber, President, American Canal Society.

It would be neat if the commercial and recreational users of our waterways would unite in asking Congress to designate that recreational boating uses of our waterways has federal support. Further, all waterways users must urge Congress to fully fund waterways needs.

I ask your readers to check out the Navigation Resolution on our website, UPPERMON.ORG. We, the River Navigation Coalition, and Boaters are Voters, would like to hear from and work with those who support the goals of our Navigation Resolution. Your readers also should visit ANCHORSAWEIGHMAGAZINE.COM for more information, and, visit the Boating Links connections.

Ben "Bos" Smith, Chairman, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association, emailed to me his hope that we can form a coalition of waterways users to work for the needed Congressional legislation and funding.
