Local Engineer Earns Man of the Year Honor

David L. Weaver, PE, was named Man of the Year by the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). Weaver has been a strong contributor to the Transportation Industry throughout West Virginia for many years. With almost 30 years of experience, David is an experienced project manager who oversees and develops planning studies, engineering design, design-build and construction management for a variety of project types and disciplines.

As the West Virginia surface transportation leader and site operations manager of the Morgantown office of AECOM, he supervises the operations in that office and coordinates with other AECOM offices around the country to enhance and sustain West Virginia’s built, natural and social environments.

Starting as a staff engineer for the American Institute of Steel Construction for four years, Weaver then became a structural engineer for Alpha Associates in Morgantown where he was involved in the design for many new schools and bridges throughout West Virginia.

In 1998, started a West Virginia branch of AECOM and grew the staff to ten people for delivering the design of major highway, bridge expressway and other projects. Currently, Weaver is continuously building the Morgantown office of AECOM and is highly involved in some of the top transportation projects throughout the state, including: AECOM’s design manager for a portion of the WVDOH US 35 P3 Project, Design Manager for WVDOH I-79 TIF Interchange design-build project, project manager for the WVU PRT System guideway inspection and structural maintenance program, project manager for various transportation enhancement, trails, and riverfront design projects, civil engineer for WVU & Marshall universities athletics facilities site design.

Besides his highly technical involvement throughout the state, David has also held very active roles for many West Virginia professional societies, including: National Society of Professional Engineer’s House of Delegate, ACEC Legislative Committee, Main Street Morgantown Board of Directors, Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, Upper Monongahela River Association Board of Directors.
