The Monongahela River Recreation & Commerce Committee announces its second Images of the Mon art contest in conjunction with the 2009 Mon River Summit scheduled for April 13 at Water-front Place Hotel.
The purpose of the Images of the Mon art contest is to draw attention to the Monongahela River. Images may deal with any of its aspects, including its scenic properties, environment, navigation or riverside communities. Entries will be judged on their presentation of this theme as well as on artistic merit.
To encourage art contest entries the MRRCC, in partnership with Monongalia Arts Center, is offering two free classes from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 25 at Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park.
Images of the Mon participants will be on display in the Davis Gallery of Monongalia Arts Center April 3-11.
Award-winning pieces will also be on display at the Water-front Place Hotel on April 13 during the Mon River Summit. All other entries will be on display electronically. The Images of the Mon prospectus is available at www.monartscenter.com
