BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia Wesleyan College is hosting a community-education session on the Marcellus shale natural gas field and the industry rushing to tap it.

The program is set for Nov. 16 at the Social Hall in Buckhannon. It's sponsored by the West Virginia University Extension Service.

Industry officials, lawyers and representative of the Department of Environmental Protection will discuss topics including leasing and the drilling and hydraulic fracturing technologies that are used.

WVU geology professor Tim Carr and water researcher Paul Ziemkiewicz (zim KEV ich) will also attend.

Jennifer Williams of WVU Extension says county offices get daily calls from landowners and others seeking reliable information.

The forum is designed to meet that need.
