A summit on the Monongahela River's future will be held this month in Morgantown.

The Fifth Annual Monongahela River Summit is set for April 19 at the Waterfront Place Hotel.

Marion County Delegate Tim Manchin is scheduled to speak on legislation dealing with drilling in the Marcellus shale and water quality.

Barry Pallay with the Upper Monongahela River Association says the river is an important part of the economies of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and communities in the river basin.

The Greater Morgantown Convention & Visitors Bureau is hosting the summit.
