Evaporation System Tackles Frac Water Disposal

Intevras Technologies, was recently engaged by Novus Exploration to
design a system consisting of three Evras® Units in support of
Novus' drilling and frac operations in Tioga County, PA.
The Evras® system eliminates, by evaporation, approximately 1,350
barrels per day of frac and produced water. The system will use waste
heat from the existing natural gas compression facilities to evaporate
produced water at the well sites, minimizing trucking and disposal
costs. In some instances, water will also be piped to the system,
further reducing costs.
Evaporation of the water allows Novus to reduce trucking of brine as
well as the quantity of wastewater that would otherwise be discharged
to rivers or injected into disposal wells. In addition Novus is able to
realize additional gas throughput through the cooling of interstage
compression on existing facilities with no increase in break horsepower.
