North Union supervisors kept a township tradition alive with no expected increase in property taxes for next year's budget.

The $2,388,900 budget will keep the millage rate of 0.447, which supervisors added has held the line for 50 years.

North Union's millage equals $4.47 per $10,000 of assessed property value.

• Supervisors received a letter from Pennsylvania American Water stating that the Monongahela River, the company's primary source for drinking water, is experiencing increased levels of total dissolved solids, or TDS. The letter states that while elevated TDS levels are not considered a major human health risk, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection recommends consumers use bottled water for drinking and preparing food as a precaution until the excess is eliminated, which won't happen until the region receives significant rainfall.
