Dear Mr. Murphy:

I am writing to offer my support for the Point Marion Marina proposal for a Boating Infrastructure Grant.

As you know, our committee of the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce dedicated the Upper Monongahela Water Trail in June, the first bi-state water trail in the nation. Also, we were successful in obtaining a Boating Infrastructure Grant for docks on the West Virginia side of the trail.

Now, I am happy to see that our friends in Pennsylvania are proposing a BIG dock for the Point Marion area. We see the docks as integral parts of our water trail, which from the beginning has included power boaters as well as paddle boaters as trail users. Our original vision was to create several locations along the trail where boaters can tie up and access services and points of interest in the communities along the trail.

It is especially important that communities along the Upper Mon River Trail coordinate their efforts to attract transient boaters. With that in mind, I look forward to continued collaboration with the Point Marion Borough Marina as its BIG project proceeds. I have already been in contact with their Recreation Committee, including Mssrs. Joe Murphy, Joe Cocalis, and Dennis Groce.

I hope that together we can develop interstate events that will link the waterways above and below the Mason Dixon Line. Future collaborations for riverfront events such as festivals, regattas, and other water-oriented events, as well as river sojourns would be expected. The rich history of the Mon River both north and south of the Mason Dixon Line should allow us to attract boaters from a great distance who will want to access our region.

I look forward to this collaboration. Don't hesitate to contact me for assistance.

Sincerely,

Tim Terman
